1ST BIRTHDAY PARTY FOR CAMPFIRE & CONVERSATION FOR PEOPLE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA

May 2023

Campfire & Conversation for people living with dementia and their carers celebrated it's first birthday this week!  We saw regulars & past attendees join us for the festivities at Whalley Abbey, where we enjoyed pass the parcel, a nursery rhyme quiz, pin the tale on the donkey and jelly & cream alongside a birthday cake.

​

Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the past year and long may it continue!  

​

Our current group are currently voting on a new name for our outdoor sessions... so keep your eyes peeled for the winner

A brand new festival has been announced to replace the fabulous Cloudspotting festival at Gisburn Forest.  

​

From July Seekout Festival will debut this year with a mix of fabulous music, arts and wellbeing activities set in the wonderful Gisburn Forest.  

​

We are proud to say we have been asked to be part of this once again and we hope to see you in the pines hanging around in our hammocks or enjoying one of our fabulous activities for you and your family.

We are excited to announce that we will be starting a new group at Haworth Art Gallery, Hollins Lane, Accrington.

This free adult session will run with you in mind... and will run both inside & out.

SUCCESSFUL FUNDING BID SEES NEW SESSION STARTING AT WHALLEY ABBEY

December 12, 2022

We have been successful in receiving funding from Versus Arthritis / Sport England to start a new group in 2023.

​

The new group will help any adults with long term health conditions who want to increase confidence, spend more time outdoors & meet others in a relaxed environment.  The sessions may include short walks, gentle mobility exercises and other activities that encourage movement.

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2022

7th October 2022

Join us on World Mental Health Day 2022 at Howard Street Community Centre, Howard Street, Burnley for a taste of Campfire & Conversation which will be starting on Thursday 20th October at the Burnley site.

This taster session is totally free and you don't need to book, come and chat to us and the others to find out more.

FURTHER FUNDING RECEIVED AFTER SUCCESS OF PILOT SCHEME

Following the success of the pilot scheme, Campfire & Conversation for people living with Dementia & their carers, we are excited to announce that we have been awarded funding from Ribble Valley District Nurses Association to continue the project for another 10 weeks.

PILOT PROJECT LAUNCH IS A HUGE SUCESS

May 2022

This week saw us launch our new campfire & conversation for people living with dementia and their carers at Whalley Abbey in conjunction with Ribble Valley Crossroads Care www.crossroadscareribblevalley.co.uk

Our first session saw lots of people venture into the Peace garden and laughter and tales were heard.

Funded by Ribble Valley Dementia Action Alliance, the aim of the group is to provide a safe space outdoors in a beautiful space, with opportunity to meet new people, try new things, reminisce about times gone by and be treat to tasty treats around the campfire.

NEW OUTDOOR GROUP IN BURNLEY IS TURNING BLUE MONDAY GREEN

Tackling blue Monday by turning it green... that was the aim of the launch session of the new group meeting at Ightenhill Park in Burnley.  With support from the Friends of Ightenhill Park, the first session of Campfire & Conversation was a great success.

'You choose' are a series of covid secure, outdoor support sessions, funded by Sport England!  Meeting fortnightly on a Friday, outside at Ebenezers in Billington, these sessions are here to help combat loneliness & isolation and aim to boost mental & physical health & wellbeing.
Activities include our campfire & conversation as well as opportunities for self led walks, nature id and more.  Activities will vary dependant on groups interests.

Due to the recent restrictions, we have moved Campfire & Conversation online.  You can still stare at the fire and interact via the comments section but we are running a live stream via our delivery partners facebook page ( Outdoors 4 All ) every Wednesday Morning from 9.30 - 10.30 am.  Be sure to drop by, if you have access to facebook and say hello :) Stay safe everybody :)  Keep your eyes peeled for further online sessions including Campfire & Conversation via Zoom.

We are delighted to announce that we are now working in partnership with the Australian creators of the Friends Resilience programmes. Very shortly we will able to offer training and development but we are also developing an exciting new product with Friends Resilience.
